In this week’s parsha, Yosef tests his brothers one final time. After hosting them for a meal and sending them back home with food, he secretly has his silver goblet placed in Binyamin’s bag. When his steward catches up to them and accuses them of theft, the brothers are in shock. They know they’re innocent, yet when the goblet is found in Binyamin’s bag, it feels like the end of the world.

Yehuda, especially, is crushed. He had promised his father, Yaakov, that he would bring Binyamin back safely. Now, with the goblet found, Yehuda is sure there’s no way out. From his perspective, he’s trapped in an impossible situation with no solution in sight.

But here’s what’s so fascinating: as we read the story, we’re smiling. Why? Because we know the whole picture. We know that Yosef is about to reveal himself. We know this isn’t the end—it’s the moment right before everything turns around for the better. Yehuda couldn’t see it, but from the outside, we know how the story ends.

This is such a powerful lesson for life. We all go through struggles and challenges that feel impossible, moments where we think there’s no way out. In those moments, it’s easy to feel despair, just like Yehuda must have felt.

But here’s the truth: just like Hashem was guiding Yehuda’s story, He’s guiding ours too. When we’re in the middle of the struggle, we only see the pain. But Hashem sees the full picture. He’s watching over us, smiling, because He knows how the story ends—and it’s good.

So, when life feels impossible, remember Yehuda. Trust that Hashem is writing your story too, and even though you might not see it now, there’s a beautiful ending ahead.
