A man struggling to make ends meet wants to one day buy his wife a gift. He doesn’t have much, but every night, he empties whatever spare change he has into a jar—nickels, dimes, maybe the occasional dollar. “One day,” he tells himself, “this’ll turn into something special.”
Years go by. The jar gets full. Finally, he decides it’s time to count it all up. He dumps the coins on the table and starts sorting.
A friend walks in, glances at the pile, and freezes.
“Where did you get this coin?” he asks, pointing.
“No idea,” the man replies. “It’s just old pocket change.”
The friend shakes his head. “This coin is a rare collector’s item… It’s worth millions.”
All those years, the man had no idea what treasure was sitting right in front of him.
Moshe’s 515 Tefillot
In Parshat Vaetchanan, Moshe Rabbeinu pleads with Hashem 515 times to enter Eretz Yisrael.
Moshe didn’t want to taste the fruits, go sightseeing, or retire in a beautiful land. He wanted to fulfill the mitzvot that could only be performed in the land. He wanted to walk where the Shechinah dwells. He saw the spiritual reality beneath the surface.
Bnei Yisrael also knew the land was important—but they didn’t see it the way Moshe did. They saw “a land flowing with milk and honey.” Moshe saw the essence. The purpose. The destiny.
He knew this was the place where Heaven and Earth meet.
The place where every step is a mitzvah.
Where the deepest closeness to Hashem is available—if you know how to look.
We’re Holding the Treasure
And now…
We have access to the land Moshe begged to enter.
We’re living lives filled with the potential for deep connection to Hashem.
Most of us know that connecting to Hashem is a good thing.
But we have no idea just how life-changing it really is.
If we even tasted it for a moment.
The peace. The clarity. The strength.
We’d work on our connection with Hashem every day.
Don’t Miss the Gift
Eretz Yisrael isn’t just another country.
A relationship with Hashem isn’t just another mitzvah.
They’re not just pieces of our life — they’re doorways to something higher.
Eretz Yisrael is a gift we’re still learning how to appreciate.
And a relationship with Hashem? That’s not just meaningful — it’s everything.
Sometimes, all it takes is one small shift in perspective…
To realize the treasure that’s been right in front of us all along.
